According to Elton Brown, someone I've never heard of, 70% of bacon is consumed at breakfast. While this is not a surprise, my good friend Chris thought it might be. Chris is the source of a lot of my random, especially entertainment related, information.
And so, in the spirit of breakfast, I dedicate this blog.
I have a mixed history with bacon. First of all it is delicous and bad for you. Like cigarettes or binge drinking, bacon is the exact intersection of the sublime and the awful. Unfortunately, far too often you get bacon far to crisp and it arrives like a salty shard of charcoal. This is why it is often best to order bacon in diners where the turnover is very high, be they of the 24-hour New York City variety or your more conventional Denny's?/Waffle House/Sheri's/Eat'n'Park of the American heartland.
Thus concludes today's lesson.
